Castle Rock, a horror anthology series set in Stephen King’s multiverse, is returning this fall. A new trailer for the chilling show introduces us to Annie Wilkes, a killer nurse who is played by actress Lizzy Caplan.
Hulu posted a trailer for Season 2 of the series, which is titled Misery, and it gives us a taste of Wilkes, a character who also appeared in Stephen King’s horror novel Misery. Based on the novel’s plot, Misery follows Wilkes, as she finds herself working in a hospital and struggling with mental health issues in Castle Rock, Maine.
The trailer opens with Wilkes, who looks like she was in a tragic car accident and is still recovering from the trauma of it. Wilkes is seen popping many pills, walking down an isolated corridor of a hospital, and having what seem like flashbacks of gruesome incidents.
When her daughter questions her suspicious activity, Wilkes simply replies: “Everything I do, I do to protect you.”
Wilkes is then seen covered in blood and appears to be hiding something from the public. Amid her crimes, there is a feud brewing between warring clans in town, and it’s unknown if doomed Wilkes is taking part in the conflict.
Castle Rock Season 2 will debut on Hulu on October 23.
